Tips and Precaution Steps

This is the useful tips plus very important precaution steps to help you more and guide you to avoid mistakes, so that you can create your eCover with flying color and error free. I will update this page from time to time. Please visit here often so you don't missed the latest tips. OK, lets check it out.

  1. By Default, the 3D image rendered in white background color. If you want to save it as a transparent background, just hide the background layer by unmarking the eye icon in the layer palette and save it to .png or .gif format.
  2. The light blue(turquoise) line is the guidance to separate the cover and spine or any important part in the template. Make sure you use it to avoid mistakes.
  3. Make sure you place your design in the template only(inside the black color). Dont design outside the template or canvas to avoid mistakes.
  4. When running First Action(EXECUTE TEMPLATE), don't resize the image. It will cause error. Resize the image after finish up the third Action(FINALIZE).
  5. You may add more layer but DON'T delete any prebuild layer, rename it or merge it with the others.
  6. If something comes between while the action is running for example Photoshop popup appeared and said there was an error, some layer unavailable or any interuption, just ignore it and click continue.

How to Use Premade Template?

Premade Template was created to give you the easier and faster way to design your eCover. Its complete with image, text and designed properly as it should be. So, you just need to make a simple editing to the text and arrange a little bit until it looks good for you. In this blog I will create 2 types of template.

Template I = Stand alone template which no action script to apply.

Template II = Premade template specific for its own actions.

So, if you choose wrong actions, it will cause error and the result equal to 'rubbish'. Please make sure you select the proper actions compatible with the template. Unfortunately for this time, there's no premade template created for any available action script here. I’ll create it later. So, stay tune. For a quick reference, here are the simple step to use the premade template.

STEP 1 : Open up the premade template(.psd).

STEP 2 : Start editing the template.

STEP 3 : Go to Action Palette, and choose the actions compatible with the Premade Template. Skip 'EXECUTE TEMPLATE'. Select 'RENDER 3D IMAGE' and click play button. Your cover should be in 3D right now.


STEP 3 : Select 'Finalize' and click play button.

How to Use Photoshop Action Script?

It's very simple to use the action script. Below is the step-by-step tutorial to give you the picture of how it works.

STEP 1 : Find the installed action script folder inside the Action Palette. If the action is not viewed in the folder, click on the left triangle near the folder to expand the root menu.


STEP 2 : Select 'EXECUTE TEMPLATE' and click play button (the triangle at the bottom of the Palette). Now, you have the basic template canvas.


STEP 3 : Start designing your cover.

STEP 4 : Select 'RENDER 3D IMAGE' and click play button. Your cover should be in 3D right now.


STEP 5 : Select 'FINALIZE' and click play button. This step is optional only. It contains simple finisher like reflecting effect, shading and trim. If you already happy with the result, you can leave this step.

How to Install Photoshop Action Script?

First of all, you need to unpack the archive file to access the action script. To do this you need a software like winzip, winrar, or 7zip. Before you install the action script, make sure the Action Palette visible. If it’s not visible, head up to Photoshop menu tab, click on ‘Window’ and then select ‘Actions’ or simply click alt+F9 shortkey. If you’re done, lets proceed to the installing process.

Installing the Action Scripts:

Method 1 :
This is the easiest and fastest way to load the action script. It can load multiple file together. Highlight the action script file(.atn) from folder, drag and drop it to the photoshop windows or directly to the action palette.

Method 2 :
Just double click on the actionscript file(.atn) from folder. Repeat the step to install the other file.

Method 3 :
Click on the menu from the upper right corner of the Actions Palette. Once the menu appeared, click on “Load Actions”.



Locate and highlight the action script file(.atn) file from your folder. Click “Load” or double click on the file to load it. Repeat the above steps to install the other action script file.
